Carli Horner

Carli Horner, singer and violinist for the past 15 years.

Carli started playing the violin in the 5th grade. Her class was given a choice of what instrument to play, and the violin was the first and only instrument she picked up. She has now played it for 15 years, taking private violin lessons up until 3 1/2 years ago.

Carlie started playing the piano when she was 6 years old (at her mother's request). She was a very antsy child and during her 30 minute, once a week lessons, drove her teacher crazy. She has now been playing for 18 years, taking private lessons up until 8 years ago.

Carli started singing when she was 5 in the church choir. "I fell in love with singing." Because of her love for singing, she also sang in the school choirs. She was an alto for the Friends University "Singing Quakers" for 3 years. Now, her love is singing in The Mustard Seeds.

On Spirituality:
Carli first found God when she was in middle school, but never knew what it really meant. As most children aren't, she was not given a choice about going to church. Her parents made her go every Sunday, which made her dislike it.

When she got to Friends University (a private christian college), she was not into taking religion classes or being told when to pray.

When Carli came out to her family - she was disowned for a year. It was during this time, Carli that she to get to know God better.

It was in August of 2002 that she started going to MCC in Kansas City, and has found her home. She was re-baptized and accepted God into her heart once more. Since then, she has found true solace and love in God, and does not plan on ever turning back!
