Susie Brenner

Susie is a recovering alcholic who shares her personal experience and her love for the Lord through her music. She is a talented singer-songwriter and plays the 12-string guitar & bass.

Susie's musical journey began at the age of 6 when her Mother enrolled her in piano lessons. Uninterested in the participation required of her, she began a painful journey that lasted 8 years. (Possibly more painful for the teacher than the student)

At 13, Susie decided that she wanted to learn to play the guitar. It was a struggle to convince her parents to buy her one for Christmas (due in part to the lack of practice in connection with the piano). She did, however, prevail and got her first guitar.

The following summer, Susie accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She became involved in the Youth for Christ music ministry. This is the time when she wrote her first song. She then knew that God had given her a talent and she was called to use it for His Glory.

By her early 20's, Susie had fallen away from God and turned her sights toward pop music. She sang professionally for the next 3 years in hotels and restaurants around the Kansas City area. This was a perfect setting for a person that was yet to realize that she was an alcoholic. By this time, when the partying had long faded for others, it didn't stop for Susie. Her music stopped for the most part for the next several years as her struggle with her addiction grew worse. She was in and out of treatment centers.

During one of her many try's at sobriety she attended MCC Kansas City. She then renewed her relationship with the Lord and became active in their music ministry. Susie has been sober since November 1999. She wants to share her testimony with others and give witness to the power of Jesus Christ and the miracles he has performed in her life.

"I have been so blessed by the love of God, my Church and my friends in this journey. I thank the Lord for being my God and for the loving hands that have always held me so tight."
