My Mom was diagnosed with cancer in April of 2002 and six weeks later she died. This page is in tribute to a wonderful woman.

Mother loved crafts. Outside of her family it was her passion. The photo above was Christmas 2001 when she made me my Christmas Quilt with help from my Dad.

She loved her grandchildren. She had eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. The photo above is of Douglas Redd at his graduation in 2004.

A Mother of Five
There are four sons and one daughter. Lee Redd, Mackie Redd, Nadine Redd, Jeffery Redd and Phillip Redd. We were her life, her light and her joy.

Devoted Wife
Mom and Dad married on June 24, 1954. My Father was a military man so my Mother spent her life following my Father from base to base.

I have fond memories of all of the children, Mom and Dad traveling from Maine to California. Mom sure could fry some mean chicken for those long road trips.

Friend For Life
When my Mother made a friend you were a friend for life to her. I thank all of those that took time out of their days to stop by and visit with Mother. She loved seeing each and everyone of you. Sara Koop, a special thank you. You gave my Mother's spirit peace.

Sister
Mother was a sister to five, Aunt Audrey, Aunt Georgie, Aunt Betty, Uncle Kenny and Uncle Lindly (deceased). She was blessed and got to see all of her sisters before she passed. At times you would hear laughter ringing from the front room where Mom's bed was. Upon looking in you would see her with her sister(s) and they would be laughing about their childhood.

Mom's Favorite Color Not Mine
I would not have picked purple as a dominate color on this web page had it not been my Mother's favorite.

What The Color Means To Me Now
The color of purple has taken on a whole new meaning to me. It reminds me that my Mother is always with me.

Support your local organizations

Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice
Our family cannot thank enough the whole organization of Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice out of Wichita, KS. I am talking about everyone from our personal nurse, to the people who took our calls when we were lost and did not know what to do for Mother. They always provided us with the direction and comfort that was needed.

They came in and took our family by the hand and guided us through the entire process. Linda Lee, our Hospice Nurse, was beyond GREAT.

Life Project
We found out the great work that Life Project is doing in the state of Kansas and wanted to share this great commitment to care at the end of ones life. They used our family photo taken with Mom the night the children all shaved their heads as the main photo on the year-long poster campaign. Crazy as it sounds, yes even me the only daughter did this.

Mother loved receiving flowers.

This is my Grandmother, Jenny Boxford and Mom. Mom never got over losing her Mother. I now understand my Mother's loss, as I feel the same way about her.
